Pyramidal Orchids flower June to August according to "The Wild Flower Key" by Francis Rose.
Above is one in the sheltered valley on the north side of Box Hill in Surrey above the last hairpin bend of the zig-zag road -- happily in full flower on 3rd September.
Meanwhile, in The Long Plantation near Kingswood above, this solitary White Helleborine continues to thrive and looks like it will be setting a good lot of seed soon.
It is lovely to see Orchids in September! Click here to see the same flower earlier this year on 30th May 2011.
