Ode to Wellies

Wonderful worlds squelch beneath my soles.

Menacing, mucky, mud embraces me fast

and a bootless foot balances bravely in bracing winter air

before returning to booted safety.

Wellies welcome wet winters, splashing and murky, marvellous mud.
