Sweet Chestnuts adding to one hay fever sufferer's difficulties today in Nymans Wood.

In Britain, hay fever is mainly caused by grass pollen. Around 95% of hay fever sufferers are allergic to grass pollen

Tree pollen can cause hay fever too. Around a quarter of hay fever sufferers are allergic to tree pollen. Mould spores and weed pollen can also trigger symptoms. Ref;http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/hayfever/Pages/Allabouthayfever.aspx
If, like me, you are sneezing and have a bit of a sticky throat.  Sweet Chestnuts may be a factor.  This afternoon, in Nymans Wood, the pollen bearing flowers of the Sweet Chestnuts were colourful and the scent somewhat choking to my senses.
From a distance, the trees can be seen to be cloaked in flowers.

At least, let's hope for a bumper crop of nuts this Autumn.
