Strangalia maculata ; a longhorn beetle in Brickfield Meadow, Fairwarp & a good case for leaving rotting deciduous tree stumps in gardens.

What a wonderfully colourful beetle, with no common name it is Strangalia maculata, a longhorn beetle.
Its larvae feed in rotting deciduous tree stumps, which is a good reason to leave rotting wood dotted around our gardens for insects like Strangalia maculata and the food chains that eat insects.  This was on Hogweed flowers in Brickfield Meadow, Fairwarp  a nature reserve and good example of an unimproved Wealden meadow.
