Bird's-nest Orchid emerging in a Surrey wood.

Beech woods are looking marvellous at this time of the year; a joy to see.
I was here to check on the progress of Bird's-nest Orchids.  They are just emerging amongst the dead flower heads from last year.
The new flowers are just bursting through the soil like walnuts sticking out.

Keep watching for the development of this saprophytic plant's flower.
