Bignor and Barlavington 9 miles circular, Saturday 25 October 2008

Just 5 of us set off through the beautiful Houghton forest on this walk, which was from the Mid Sussex Ramblers' program of walks - see www.midsussexramblers.co.uk

I was the leader, deputising for Alison, who had selected this lovely walk. She had unfortunately recently broken her wrist and was unable to lead it.

Here the path crosses the Roman road Stane Street and into the National Trust's Slindon Estate.

Fine panoramic views from the Downs after Glatting beacon looking north to Sutton and Bignor and our return route. Click on this and any other pictures to expand them.

Barlavington 13th century church

Deer, deer, deer... now we commence the climb up to Westburton hill to the car park on the A29 above Houghton.
