Enjoy the mauve colours in Sussex woods before they disappear

Above is an Adler tree, which enjoys wet ground next to a stream.  The buds are small and exquisitely mauve coloured.  Enjoy them before they open.

There is also mauve in the flower buds of Lady's smock or Cuckoo flower.  Be quick as this plant is already dropping its petals.  These pictures taken in New England Wood, Cuckfield, West Sussex, UK today.  Click on any picture to expand it.
