Cowslips on Wolstonbury Hill

Cowslips were indeed starting to bloom on the hill for this Mid Sussex Ramblers' walk, lead by me.

Due to the harsh winter and the late spring, it will be another week or so before they are at their best.

We had hoped to see some fairies.... fairy shrimps that is!  The pond where they are found had already dried up however, so they will now have reverted to their cyst form to survive periods of drought.

The dried out "fairy pond".
