"The Friends of Wolstonbury" improving South Downs habitat for native flora

Last Friday "The Friends of Wolstonbury" continued their work to extend the north facing grassland of the Down by clearing scrub and clear felled trees.  Early in the morning, National Trust Ranger Mike Botterill had been busy chain sawing the large trees for the volunteers to come in and tidy up.

This is a panoramic view showing the earlier mown areas.

Primroses and violets are in bloom now.  Later in the year native orchids will hopefully flourish once again.
If you love wildlife and would like to help, please see www.wolstonbury.com for how to join us.  Saturday 21st April is our next work day.  Click any picture to expand it.
