to Wolstonbury Hill and back in a 6.5 miles circular route.
It was part of the Mid Sussex Ramblers' programme; click the link for details of future walks.
The walk was free of charge and 15 persons enjoyed
beautiful weather and glorious spring flowers.
The Early-purple Orchids were in the peak of condition.
After a short briefing on successful photography of orchids, the group set to with their cameras.
We climbed the hill for a picnic lunch on the leeward side, sheltered from the light winds.
Bluebells and wood anemones were spectacular in the woods as we circled back, as was the Speckled wood butterfly below.
And after the walk there is nothing more refreshing than a pint or two of "Sussex Gold" ale from Arundel brewery in the New Inn.
