Isle of Purbeck

The Isle of Purbeck is a wonderful place. "SussexRambler" has a natural affinity towards Sussex but Purbeck is different!

On the 7th September 2009, Gloria and I walked from Worth Matravers to Seacombe Cliff and then along to St Aldhelm's or St Alban's Head towards Chapman's Pool and back to Worth Matravers. Click on the beautiful display boards below to read the history and geology of this lovely area.

Lynchets, medieval fields are clearly visible still on these hill sides. A similarly fine example nearer to Sussex is Catherington Down in Hampshire.

This sea aster is beautiful and was grown in gardens before Michaelmas daisies arrived from the new world.

This is a grainy shot of a buzzard being chased by what looked like ravens.

It was a chilly day walking in the clouds on the high cliffs.
